David L. Brewer III (born May 19, 1946, in Farmville, Virginia) was unanimously nominated on October 12, 2006 by the Los Angeles Board of Education as the next superintendent of the Los Angeles Unified School District. Brewer will succeed Roy Romer, once the details of his contract have been agreed upon.

Brewer retired from the U.S. Navy in March 2006, with the rank of Vice Admiral. In the Navy, he was responsible for the education and training of 300,000 seamen worldwide.

He is married to Richardene "Deanie", a middle school teacher, and has a daughter named Stacey, who is 29 and is a lawyer in New York.
