Jason Avant (born April 20, 1983 in Chicago, Illinois) is a wide receiver for the Philadelphia Eagles.

High School Career

Jason Avant attended Carver High School and graduated in 2002. While in high school Jason Avant would play on both defense, as a free safety, and offense, as a wide receiver. He recorded 148 receptions for 2,150 yards and 37 touchdowns and 180 tackles and 18 interceptions.

College career

Avant attended University of Michigan and played as a wide receiver. As a freshman in 2002, he played in 12 of Michigan's 13 games and caught 2 passes for 21 yards. During his sophomore season in 2003, Avant caught 47 passes for 772 yards. As a junior in 2004, he started 10 games at wide receiver and played in 11. He was second on the team in receptions (38), receiving yards (447), and receiving touchdowns (3). As a senior in 2005, Avant started all 12 games at wide receiver. He led the team with career highs in receptions (82), receiving yards (1,007), and receiving touchdowns (8).

NFL career

Jason Avant was drafted in the 4th round of the 2006 NFL Draft by the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles traded up to get this draft pick using a 6th round pick and tackle Artis Hicks. He wears number 81 for Eagles, which previously belonged to Terrell Owens.
