In industrial chemistry, coke refers to a type of refined coal. It is used to make pig iron as part of the steel-making process.

In modern English slang, coke is a term for cocaine.

'Coke is a common abbreviation for Coca-Cola, and claimed by the company as a trade mark. (since when?)
