Learjet 24
The Learjet 23 is an six to eight seat (two crew and four to six passengers) twin-engined, high speed business jet. Manufactured by Learjet as the successor to the Learjet 23
History
The Learjet 24 is the advancement of the Learjet 23. Most important exterior distinguisher are the existing 2 cab windows on the right side in place of the predecessor. Better engines were used and some small changes were made, in order to meet the permission regulations FAR part 25. In addition was a different windshield, auxiliary tank at the wingtips (tip-Tanks) and a fire-extinguishing system for the engines. The first flight of a Learjet 24 took place on 24 January 1966 . Different variants were the 24A, B, C, D, E and F, with changes of the takeoff weight, the range, the cab and the engines. The Model 24 was built altogether 259 times, of which: 81 were the standard 24/24A, 49 were the 24B, 99 were the 24D, and 29 were the 24E/24F.
In the year 2001 there were still 210 Learjet 24's in use. Altogether 39 LJ24's were lost through accidents.
Variants
Learjet 24A
Standard version. was converted from existing Learjet 23. Takeoff weight 5902 kg
Learjet 24B
Improved execution with 2x General Electric CJ-610-6 and 6129 kg maximum takeoff weight.
Learjet 24C
Variant such as 24B, however without fuselage tank, thus with reduced range. Takeoff weight 5675 kg. Does not produce.
Learjet 24D
Like Learjet 24C, however by changed surface tanks again range and takeoff weight increased 6129 kg. Those so far round cab windows by angular were replaced.
Learjet 24E
Like Learjet 24D, however in a special equipment for air taxi enterprises. The low-speed characteristics could be improved.
Learjet 24F
Like Learjet 24D, however again with additional fuselage tank. 2x General Electric CJ-610-8A. The low-speed characteristics could be improved.
