Wyoming Valley Mall
Wyoming Valley Mall is a 914,000 sq. ft. shopping center located in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. It is owned and operated by the Pennsylvania Real Estate Investment Trust. It opened in 1971.
The mall currently consists of over 90 stores, including anchors The Bon-Ton, JC Penney, Macy's, and Sears. Macy's actually occupies two storefronts within the mall - an anchor spot that houses ladies' clothing and cosmetics, and a non-anchor spot that houses men's clothing and housewares. This was necessary because there was not an available anchor spot large enough for the store's needs. Though not physically connected, they are considered one location, with a single telephone number and store number. This Macy's location was previously a Kaufmann's, which replaced Hess's (and expanded into the secondary non-anchor spot) in 1995 when it was sold to May Department Stores.
The mall is currently undergoing a major renovation, which is scheduled to be completed by late 2006.
