It removed my name "Declan"

saying that it is vandelism, how is this? i am giving an example of the name and how it is used thus my name and that i am an irish citizen - 81.101.114.111

The Link off the Danny Kaye page for "The Kid from Brooklyn" redirects to an irrelevant page. There is a phrase referring to 'The kid from brooklyn' but it has nothing to do with the movie of that title. Your bot corrected my deletion, and that was an error.

I blanked an article regarding louis xvii's sister Catherine OF Navarre, duchess of Lorraine because it erroneously redirected to Henry ii duke of Lorraine who was two centuries before her time. Please see to it that you revert the revert of your bot.

Mallory Knox

I delete it because there's already an article about mallory called mallory.w.knox.

september 11th site edit

the information I provided to that search was considered vandalism. however, the information i provided was far more fact laden that any of the lies previously posted to that search

Ryan Adams Article

It seems like you're reverting the Ryan Adams article back to its vandalized state since right now its showing information for Bryan Adams.

I reverted the Ryan Adams page back from the Bryan Adams info and this bot reverted it back and gave me a warning. I'm not very impressed by this bot (98% correct???). RobDe68

Vampire Freaks

You don't mind keeping an eye on VampireFreaks.com, some people keep vandalizing it. - User:Xachna 9/29/06

Ghepeu's inferior revisions and AntiVandalBot revisions

The user "Ghepeu" does not know enough about Vesalius to be the person/author to whom the page constantly reverts. Indeed, some of the other edits have been vast improvements (in both content and English prose). I think Wikipedia would be better served by stopping this silly AntiVandalBot from making changes, especially when the changes revert mindlessly to previous inferior versions.

Lobster Telephone

The text was removed from Lobster Telephone because it is copied verbatum from another website.

PS thanks for your threat, I will accept your apology gracefully.

improper redirect was removed

Someone had created a redirect which inadvertently rerouted searches for a legitimate Wiki entry off to an alternative spelling. In effect, this hijacked searches for one entry and deposited them at another irrelevant entry based upon the faulty assumption that the searcher had mispelled the name. Bad move. Better would be to edit the entry for the name of the person with closely spelled name to add link to other individual's wiki. ~Chandra Patel

Sorry about that edit

I was looking at other edits and I thought I press "Show Preview." Sorry

Your doin a bang up job Mr. VandalBot, im proud of you

motor development

Hi,

I tried to delete the automatic redirect from motor development to motor neuron, but your bot reverted the change. The redirect might lead people to think that motor development is something specific to motor neurons, which it isn't. Motor development is a branch of psychology, not something specific to neurons.

Spammed article.

The talk page on the Digital Divide article needs cleaning. It has been spammed.

courtney love's album

there is no proof that the album's title was changed to 'sunset marquis'. more4 documentary, interviews, articles, all relate it to 'how dirty girls get clean'. not a single note in press state that.

former muslims

while doing research for a paper on barak obama's family history, i was directed to a wiki page entitled former muslims @ en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Former_Muslims from a page that held religiouly charged views of a violent nature . I reported the page and attempted to delete en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Former_Muslims but your bot has prevented that. I'm left with no choice but to report that wiki is allowing itself to host what could be a terrorist hit list.

good day.

Automatic reversion

I refer you to the Law School at Griffith University page. It was not intended to be vandalism, the changes were merely to redirect the user to another page of a better title, namely, the Griffith University Law School. cheers, Johnny Howard

Deleting The Article

Could you please delete this article? A friend of mine made it as a joke. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.207.215.208 (talk)

Bot is misbehaving. Not sure if it is bad enough to block it for.

It reported vandalism for blocking [1] and apparently never warned the IP in question before it did so. JoshuaZ 03:36, 6 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It has not been warning any anonymous users. For that matter, I am not sure it has warning anyone in a while. I have been ensuring warnings were added to the pages, but since I can't block anyone in this wiki, I have refrain from using those templates. The problem is back. It reverted here without generating any warning. JoshuaZ 03:36, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The bot seems to be not warning anyone again. JoshuaZ 03:57, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ahhhhhh /me will do a script on cron to reset the bot once every 2 hours or so.... it seems to be a time based thing -- Tawker 06:30, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I got reverted for trying to repair vandalism

I erased explicit content from an article Titanium and the Bot reverted me! How do I show it was not me and was only trying to help. Will I be blocked? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.156.223.27 (talk) 21:52, 6 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

German Shepherd Dog page vandal

Someone is repeatedly adding the following link to the External Links section of the German Shepherd Dog page, in spite of being reverted many times. This link is inappropriate link spam. I don't know if this is something AntiVandalBot can do, but automatically reverting any changes that adds this link would be a good thing.

Please check out the lonelygirl15 articel. Someone keeps on taking out the 'Other Notable YouTube Celebrities' paragraph without discussing it as is required. Its vandalism. Chavatshimshon 05:00, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No warnings

Why is AntiVandalBot not writing any warnings to the user talk pages? It would be nice if we human new page patrollers had assistance on this front. There are a number of IP's that I could have reported to WP:AIV had warnings been written to the user pages by the bot.

LittleOldMe 11:53, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

See User Talk:AntiVandalBot#Bot is misbehaving. Not sure if it is bad enough to block it for. Will (Talk - contribs) 06:25, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed, it reverted one of my edits [2] without telling me. I thought maybe it didn't leave a warning if there was already one on my talk page, so I tried removing it in the expectation that if it reverted one of my edits again then it would tell me. But it hasn't. And I've just looked at the latest contribs and it's still failing to warn. I call this a malfunction. I've a feeling that this is as bad as not having an anti-vandal bot at all, but can't make up my mind whether to hit the big red button. -- Smjg 17:50, 11 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Oops, should've realised sooner that the emergency shutoff is just a shortcut for admins to block it. I'd thought at first that it was a link to the bot's own shutoff script. -- Smjg 18:36, 11 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Warning messages

Hi! Could you include warning level in comments such as <!-- Template:Test (first level warning) -->, just like standard warning templates work. It can be helpful for other anti-vandal tools to parse contents of userpage to see if user received warnings recently. MaxSem 12:19, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

False positive on the Ref Desk

[3] was a small bit of redirect vandalism. User:Skittle tried to revert this vandalism and the bot reacted by reverting Skittle [4]. Probably not major, just thought I'd point it out. -- Consumed Crustacean (talk) 14:45, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

C&P move fixed, if anyone cares. Kusma (討論) 16:43, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Seems to be missing these cases

I was looking through history of Constantine I and noticed that the Bot missed two occasions of someone inserting homophobic vandalism edits into the article—assuming it was running at all. Humans intervened in both cases. This is the second one, the first was a few edits earlier. Hence I thought to suggest you add some keywords like "homo", "homosexual" and whatever to your redflags and criteria. Perhaps an iterim tagging step flagging the file for human perusal is something to consider??? Good luck either way, and good job! Kudos. // FrankB 18:22, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Junkers Ju 252

Antivandalbot reverted my edits to Junkers Ju 252, apparently due to blanking. What I did was removing all text, since it was written in German and replacing it with one English sentence. Have you faced this kind of situations before and would it be possible to hinder this kind of recessive reverts in the future?Julius Sahara 18:36, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Anyway, after further attemps I managed to proceed my edits. Julius Sahara 18:52, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, that's the first time I've ever heard of that happening, sort of a freak case. I'm still not sure how we can have it approve of the blanking for select users, it's the whole catch22 thing. Thanks for fixing it :) -- Tawker 13:47, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

England

This is a bit embarrasing, isn't it? [5] This is another example of two vandals' edits being followed by AntiVandalBot reverting only the later one. Does AntiVandalBot look further back into the edit history that the last edit? Could it? --Stemonitis 20:36, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It could, it will in version (currentversion)+1 -- Tawker 13:44, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Paul Wight and Booker Huffman

I was simply deleting the vandalism that had occured on the page, i thought this was the role of a wikipedian ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Noface1 (talkcontribs) 21:21, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

AntiVandalBot apparently missed this edit to Booker Huffman and this edit to Paul Wight. However you also blanked the pages on four occasions: Booker Huffman 1, Booker Huffman 2, Booker Huffman 3 and Paul Wight.
The best way to deal with the problem is to revert the vandalism (see also Wikipedia:Vandalism for more extensive coverage of the subject) or to bring the matter to the attention of an administrator. You can also help out by joining the RC patrol. --Oden 12:06, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm, I wonder if it's going into an overloading situation which is allowing that kind of vandalism to stay. I'll take a look -- Tawker 13:43, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

cron reset not working

Whatever you did to reset the bot so that it writes user notifications is not working. It is reverting without notifying again.

LittleOldMe 13:18, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It reverted my Manhattan change

I had wikified "S.C.U.M. Manifesto" to SCUM Manifesto and you reverted it. It was not vandalism, it was adding the appropriate wikilink. I don't think the bot is 98% correct. Jaysbro 17:39, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see any reverts on any of your edits, diff please. Hey, 1 or 2 out of 5000 reverts a day is still pretty darn good! -- Tawker 21:21, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong revert on The Real World

Hi AntiVandalBot,

You have reverted an edit which was made áfter the edit that vandalized a whole article: it seemed that the anonymous contributor you reverted, was just trying to solve the problem, but did not know how. Because English is not my mother tongue and therefore giving a clear explanation is hard for me, I recommend you to watch User talk:70.237.143.133 and its edit to see what I mean, so you can try to make the software even better (I think it is already quite nice).

Bye, SietskeEN 20:05, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Here's the diff, AVB currently has problems handling two vandalizations which happen after each other. --Oden 09:58, 9 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, that explains. Thanks for taking notice! SietskeEN 21:31, 9 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

HSL-Zuid

Why was this edited automatically reverted as vandalism? The other lines that I added under the see also section are related, and it is useful for them to appear on the HSL-Zuid article, especially since the High Speed Alliance redirects back to that article. -- 12.106.111.10 23:50, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Handled. Luna Santin 23:51, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

John Christie

I deleted the text on John Christie (producer) as almost all of it was duplicated in the (better informed) page on John Christie (Glyndebourne).

They actually refer to the same person but the connection does not seem to have been recognised. So I suggest that the first page is completely deleted. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.109.184.210 (talk) 17:39, 9 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

(diff). When you have two articles (like John Christie (producer) and John Christie (Glyndebourne)) which cover the same subject the best course of action is to merge them. Blanking one of them (which here might have been done with the best of intentions) is not a good idea, and is sometimes done by vandals. --Oden 09:54, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Tsonga entry

The entry to Tsonga had been hijacked by a commercial entry for a bluejeans company. I tried to change it back to its original version, which was a two line disambiguation between Tsonga people and language, but it was reverted to the old, bad content by your bot.

Katie (I do not have a user name yet but you can see my IP in the Tsonga entry if that helps) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.103.176.23 (talk) 19:07, 9 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

AVB apparently reverted back to the jeans company version (diff), which was spam. Fixed it. --Oden 09:54, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong revert on Minnesota Chippewa Tribe

Hello AntiVandalBot, Please have your human check your routine to tweek it a bit and make your function more effective. You have reverted a vandalized page to the version before the vandalization, but that previous version was also a vandalized page. There should be a built-in check to ensure that the version you revert to is the actual version to revert. Otherwise, your routine is very good. Report praises to your programming human.
