Goldcorp Inc. (TSX: G, NYSE: GG) is the world’s lowest cost and fastest growing multimillion ounce gold producer with operations in the Americas and Australia. The Company had record net earnings of US$286 million (US$0.91 per share) in 2005. Goldcorp has agreed to acquire certain Canadian and other assets from Barrick Gold upon completion of its take-over of Placer Dome. This transaction is expected to close in April 2006, making Goldcorp the 3rd largest gold producer in North America. Goldcorp’s annualized gold production in 2006 is forecast to be 2 million ounces at a cash cost of US$125 per ounce, and the Company remains unhedged.
On 31 August 2006, Goldcorp acquired Glamis Gold for $8.6 billion USD, creating one of the world's largest gold mining companies with combined assets of $21.3 billion USD [1]. Completion of the takeover is expected in November 2006.
