The Zuider Zee (Dutch: Zuiderzee) is a former shallow inlet of the North Sea in northeast of the Netherlands. Approximately 80 by 65 miles, it has been diked to form the Ijsselmeer and some of it has been reclaimed for farm land and housing forming the province of Flevoland.
