Static (Static Shock)
Virgil Ovid Hawkins a.k.a. Static the electromagnetic legend/hero of the City of Dakota of the Static Shock animated series - is based on Static, a comic book character and series by Milestone Comics (an independently-owned imprint published by DC Comics). The title character of the series, Virgil Hawkins, named for the first black American to go to law school (who was himself named for the Greek/Latin poets Virgil and Ovid) - is an African-American high school student in the fictional city of Dakota. As one of the victims of an accidental exposure to an experimental mutagen, he gained superhuman electromagnetic powers, (He has the power to control and produce Electromagnetic energy in a wide variety of manifestations, limited only by his Knowledge & Imagination) and - being a comic book fan - used them to become a superhero.
The more Static practiced and used his powers, the more capable he became in confrontations up against other Meta-Humans like old school bully Hot-Streak and his newer adversaries like Ebon. So far in the animated series, Static is capable of the following moves:
