National heroes of nepal is a list of nepalese people be it range to the ancient or medieval ages, who were selected to their ranks posthumously by a commission headed by famous liteurate bal krishna sum and appointed by late his majesty the king Mahendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev,in 1955 A.D.The commission was directed to make nominations on the basis of their contribution to the nation ,its influence and consequences. On these regards, the commission nominated people by thier contributions to the pride of the nation be it in religious ,cultural or economic reforms, wartime bravery,to the cause of democracy, literature, architecture.

the title National Heroes Of Nepal is only offered posthumously and it is not a regular title or award, but conferred only upon the discussions of the commission now leaded by Nepal Rajakiya Pragya Pratisthana.

However several people like prominent thinker rishiris and many other s have pointed out the nominees could have been biased on their proximity to the the king's intentions.for example both Bhimsen Thapa and Jung Bahadur had been prime minister and commander og the armies, both had been involved in war but Jung Bahadur had gained territories for the nation while Bhimsen had lost, but still Jung did not receive his position.Similarly defeated commanders like Amar Singh Thapa,Bhakti Thapa and Balbhadra Kunwar were awarded but not vivtorious generals like Ujir Singh Thapa and Nain Singh Thapa.Similarly for judicial reforms Ram Shah was awarded but not kinj Jayasthiti Malla.King Tribhuvan had no great contribution bur still added and similar are the cases for Pasang Lhamu Sherpa and Sankhar Dhar Sakkhwa.
