Alpnach is a municipality in the canton of Obwalden in Switzerland. It has a population of 5100 of which 600 are of foreign nationality (2000).

There are 300 local businesses which employ 1800 people. 16% of these are in the agricultural sector, 42% in trade and industry, 42% in services.

The main sights of Alpnach are: the world's steepest rack railway to the mountain Pilatus, a Roman mansion, and a hand- operated print shop.
