Maurice Benard (born Mauricio Morales on March 1, 1963) is an American actor.

He started his soap career as Nico Kelly on All My Children from 1987 to 1989. Nowadays, he is known by most for his Daytime Emmy Award-winning portrayal of romantic mobster Michael "Sonny" Corinthos, Jr. on the ABC soap opera, General Hospital, a role he has played since 1993.

He won a Daytime Emmy for his work as Sonny in 2003. In 2004, he sat down with Oprah Winfrey, and in an interview for her talk show, he admitted to having been afflicted with bipolar disorder. On December 5, 2004, Paula (Maurice's wife) gave birth to their third child and only son, Joshua James.
