George was also involved in a side project with Wade McNeil (one of the guitarists of Alexisonfire) and two members from the band Jersey; Jordan "Ratbeard" Hastings (current drummer for Alexisonfire) and Sean McNabb, called The Black Lungs. Pettit played the bass guitar for this short lived punk quartet. After the band broke up, Wade McNeil took the name The Black Lungs for his solo project.
Pettit was a juror on two episodes of Video On Trial, a television show on MuchMusic where 5 jurors critique and poke fun at selected music videos, and sentence musical artists and bands.

Pettit is an avid record collector as well as a talented DJ, taking tips from the great DJ King Tubby.
