As a university student in a formal logic course, I learned and it has been acknowledged at the time, The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language was the most appropriate and concise dictionary, most recommended (1980's) for university students. The average person trying to understand what fascism is, can't dive into the academic discussion(s) - but merely are looking for a somewhat quick definition that actually defines the word "fascism". So I think this concise definition should be incorporated at the beginning of the academic discussions and the historical evolution of fascism it.

fascism n. 1. A philosophy or system of government that advocates or exercises a dictatorship of the extreme right, typically through the merging of state and business leadership, together with an ideology of belligerent nationalism.

2. Capital F. The governmental system of Italy under Benito Mussolini from 1922 to 1943.

(Source: The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language, New College Edition, William Morris, Ed.; 1981, Houghton Mifflin Company, Boston.)
It actually defines what it is no matter what context applied to. It defines the word for all of the discussion disagreements.
It is the only purpose for my entering this text.
