Outside sources

If you use text from other sources like you did for Saugus Iron Works National Historic Site, it would be very helpful if you could make a note similar to the one I wrote at Talk:Saugus Iron Works National Historic Site after you reverted my mistake. Rl 20:08, 29 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Articles

Thanks for getting the article on Harpers Ferry National Historical Park started. Though I agree that cut and pasting text from official websites is fine, make sure you reference where you got the information fully and perhaps perform a few wikilinks too. Reading through this may help you get started. Thanks again.--MONGO 10:26, July 31, 2005 (UTC)

NPS Stubs

I noticed you have been making some stub articles for National Park sites. This is mini-project of mine, too. In case you are interested, I have eventually worked out a pretty good format for NPS stubs that you are welcome to use or adapt. A current example is Antietam National Battlefield.

It features the protected areas infobox and some standard categories. Tools for getting the pieces of information for the infobox are at Wikipedia:WikiProject Protected Areas. (Also, why not join the project yourself?)

nationalparksgallery.com

I've noticed that you have been promoting this site through insertion in a large number of articles. I don't mean to take away from your work, but I'm concerned about partiality. Would you care to disclose your relationship to nationalparksgallery.com?

I just think it's a relevant site.
Well, that may be so. I think it would be far more helpful to incorporate most of the info contained there into Wikipedia. Especially since the site is loaded with online ads.

Sorry, I'm not going to violate copyright by copying material from there to Wikipedia. The site isn't "loaded" with ads either, and it's a moot point anyway.
Certainly -- I'm not implying that you should, and I would be happy to explain how. I think that you have done some good work on Wikipedia and I hope that you'll continue doing so. However, from my experience creating 30 links to a site of commercial character on a single day will raise an eye brow or two. Especially when your user ID implies some sort of affiliation with the site in quesion. This is frawned upon and I can point you to several examples of similar situations if needed. Normally, this results in a whole-sale removal of the links in question.
