Aran (previously known as İyirmi Səkkiz,St.Mingəçevir, Aprel, 28 Aprel, and 28 Aprelya) is a village and the most populous municipality in the Yevlakh Rayon of Azerbaijan.[citation needed] It has a population of 11.587
Climate

History
[edit]The settlement was founded in 1935. It is the largest settlement in the Yevlakh region. Aran settlement was famous for its cattle breeding during the Soviet times. In 1946 it gained the status of an urban settlement.
Culture
[edit]There is a shrine of Seyid Maral Seyid Bayram gizi in the town.
Population
[edit]Aran settlement has a population of 11,587 people. Of these, 6.193 men and 5.494 are women.
Famous People
[edit]- Kosayev Israfil Mahmud oglu was born in the village of Jafarli of Gazakh region in 1918. He graduated from the Faculty of Literature with distinction and moved to the settlement of Aran. Here he gained respect among the population and worked as a school principal for more than 40 years.
