Selma Blair (born June 23 1972) is an American actress. After numerous supporting roles in the 1990s, she starred in the film Cruel Intentions and the short-lived TV series Zoe, Duncan, Jack and Jane in 1999. She has since had notable roles in Hollywood feature films such as Legally Blonde (2001), The Sweetest Thing (2002), and Hellboy (2004).

Biography

Early life

Blair was born Selma Blair Beitner in Southfield, Michigan, the daughter of Molly Ann and Elliot Beitner. She has three older sisters, Katherine (a book publicist), Elizabeth, and Marie.[1] Blair attended a junior college in Michigan, then later transferred to the University of Michigan, where she earned her bachelor's degree in 1994.

Career

Blair began acting in the 1990s, starring in the film Cruel Intentions (1999), opposite Sarah Michelle Gellar and Reese Witherspoon. Blair and Witherspoon later starred together in Legally Blonde (2001). She won the best kiss category at the Teen Choice Awards along with co-star Sarah Michelle Gellar for her role in Cruel Intentions.

Personal life

Blair was married to musician Ahmet Zappa on January 24 2004, in Los Angeles. She filed for divorce at the Los Angeles Superior Court on June 21 2006, citing irreconcilable differences. Blair was also reported by Us Weekly and the National Enquirer to have checked into Promises rehab facility in Malibu for drug and alcohol addiction (The same time and facility Britney Spears was getting treatment) http://www.jossip.com/gossip/us-weekly/
