Amar Gowda

Amar Gowda (born 21 November 1991) is an Indian filmmaker known for his work in the Kannada film industry. He has worked across various filmmaking roles including directing, screenwriting, editing and cinematography, and is known for blending commercial and indie storytelling with psychological and emotional depth.

Early life and education

Amar was born on 21 April 1991 in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. He pursued a degree in animation from the ANTS Training School, which laid the foundation for his career in visual storytelling and filmmaking. He is self-trained in DI coloring using Da Vinci Resolve.

Career

Amar began his filmmaking journey with the critically acclaimed Kannada short film Samaja, which marked his directorial debut. The film gained attention for its powerful narrative, and the lead actor won the Best Lead Actor Award at the Janashree News Channel Awards.

In 2018, Amar made his big-screen directorial debut with Attempt to Murder, a psychological drama featuring actors Vinay, Chandu B. Gowda, Shobitha Shivanna, and Hemalatha. The film developed a cult following and marked Amar's entry into mainstream Kannada cinema.
