Brightpick is an American technology company specializing in AI-powered robotics solutions for warehouse automation. The company's headquarters are located in Erlanger, Kentucky.

Brightpick provides autonomous robots and related software aimed primarily at automating order picking, storage, and dispatch operations within warehouses. Its technology is utilized by retailers, grocers, and medical distributors in North America and Europe.

History

[edit]

Brightpick was established in 2021 as a spin-off from Photoneo, a company specializing in 3D machine vision and software, which was acquired by Zebra Technologies in 2025. Brightpick has raised approximately $60 million from investors including Pavel Baudiš (co-founder of Avast), Miroslav Trnka (co-founder of ESET), Credo Ventures, and Earlybird.

Technology

[edit]

Brightpick holds over 20 patents related to robotics systems, navigation, and software architecture. The company’s technology comprises various robotic systems and software designed for warehouse logistics automation:

Autopicker: A mobile robot that autonomously navigates warehouses, retrieves storage totes, and picks individual items directly using onboard vision systems.

Giraffe: A mobile robot for accessing high-density vertical storage, capable of retrieving totes from shelves up to 6 meters high.

Retriever: A simplified transport robot designed for goods-to-person workflows, primarily used for moving totes without robotic picking capabilities.

Dispatcher: Automates tasks such as order consolidation, buffering, and dispatch.

Brightpick’s robots are managed by Intuition, software that coordinates inventory management, robot workflows, and task allocation through real-time warehouse modeling.
