Joyce Spakman (born 26 November 1991), known professionally as Candy Makeup Artist, is a Dutch costume designer and makeup artist recognized for her handcrafted costumes and elaborate fantasy makeup. Her work often combines sculpted corsets, ornate headdresses, and baroque- and fairytale-inspired themes.[1][2][3][4][5][6]
Career
[edit]Spakman began experimenting with makeup at age 14, creating dark fantasy transformations inspired by fairytales and surreal imagery. Her early work, characterized by dramatic illusions and intricate face painting, went viral online and attracted international attention.[2]
She trained at an all-round makeup artist program in the Netherlands, becoming the first student from her school to be nominated for the IMATS student competition, where she placed second.
Under the label Candy Makeup Artist, she gained recognition for handcrafted costumes that combine fantasy makeup, sculpted corsets, and elaborate headpieces influenced by Baroque and Rococo aesthetics. She designed custom “warrior corsets” for Halsey’s film project featured in Vogue, described as “armored” pieces decked with gold, jeweled tassels, and miniature Renaissance portraits.[4]

[edit]In 2020, Spakman won first place in the **Creative Makeup** category at the World Bodypainting Festival, the world’s largest bodypainting competition.[5][6] Her work has also been featured in major media including SheKnows,[2] Shownieuws,[3] Het Parool,[1] and Vogue.[4]
