Emanuel "Manny" Perlmutter was an American journalist & reporter. He was known principally for his organized crime & urban issues reporting in New York City, having been employed by the New York Times for over 40 years.[1].
Biography
[edit]Emanuel Perlmutter was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1908 [2], and began with the New York Times as a clerk in 1929, and was later assigned as a reporter attached to the NYPD in Crown Heights, Brooklyn[3]. Subsequently, he devoted a portion of his career to transit-oriented issues, contributing to the reporting on topics such as transit agency union negotiations, New York City agency budgets, and transit-centered criminal incidents[4][5][6].For a substantial time, Perlmutter also taught police and crime reporting at Long Island University[7].
Death
[edit]Perlmutter died in Brooklyn on 2 February 1986, at the age of 78[8]
