About

[edit]

IB Karthikeyan is an Indian film producer, media entrepreneur, and advertising strategist based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He is the founder of Big Print Inc, a leading outdoor advertising agency, and Big Print Pictures, a production house focused on regional cinema and digital content. He is also the co-founder of OO Studio AI, a new-age media tech company offering AI-powered post-production and content solutions.

Early Life and Education

[edit]

IB Karthikeyan was born in Madurai and raised in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. He completed his schooling at St. Paul’s Higher Secondary School, Vepery, Chennai, and earned his Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Madras Christian College (MCC), Chennai - a premier liberal arts institution.

Passionate about cinema from an early age, Karthikeyan pursued filmmaking at the Balu Mahendra Film School, where he trained in film direction and visual storytelling.

Early Career (1993–2001)

[edit]

Karthikeyan began his professional journey with Vantage, a signage and branding company, where he worked from 1993 to 1996. During this period, he led operations for several high-profile projects, including the launch of multiple airlines (Jet Airways, Damania Airways, East West Airlines) and banks (Standard Chartered and Citi Bank) in India and the historic re-launch of Coca-Cola in the Indian market. He played a pivotal role in executing airport branding, large-format displays, and nationwide signage campaigns for these globally recognized brands.

From 1996 to 2001, he founded ARK Signs and Digital Imaging and Signage, where he managed end-to-end signage production and technology integration. During his tenure, he was instrumental in importing cutting-edge equipment and introducing the first digital printing machine to South India, revolutionizing the region’s advertising and branding ecosystem. His efforts helped modernize traditional print workflows and enabled high-volume, high-quality digital signage solutions across sectors.

Advertising & Promotions

[edit]

In 2001, Karthikeyan founded Big Print Inc, which quickly rose to become one of Tamil Nadu’s most recognized outdoor media companies. Under his leadership, the company has promoted more than 5,000 Tamil films using large-scale hoardings, wallscapes, bus shelters, and other outdoor formats. Big Print Inc has also handled branding campaigns for political parties and public awareness projects.

Film Production

[edit]

In 2014, Karthikeyan launched Big Print Pictures, marking his entry into film production. His first project was in association with PVP Cinemas. Since then, he has produced or co-produced over 15 films, including commercial releases, critically acclaimed short films, and original OTT content.

His productions span diverse genres—thrillers, sports dramas, anthologies, and psychological narratives—while also nurturing new talent and first-time directors.

AI-Driven Media-Tech Innovation

[edit]

In 2024, Karthikeyan co-founded OO Studio AI, a forward-thinking content-tech startup aimed at transforming post-production processes with artificial intelligence. The company provides AI-driven tools for editing, dubbing, localization, VFX, and workflow automation, designed to serve regional filmmakers and OTT platforms with cost-effective and scalable solutions.
