The Khulna Club (officially: Khulna Club Limited) is the oldest recreation organisation and the largest of elite clubs in Khulna. Originally it was an all-white association in British India.[1][2][3]
History
[edit]After the establishment of Khulna district in 1881, Khulna city was established in the then Khulna subdivision of Jessore district, and after the establishment of Khulna city in the Mahasinabad union, administrative activities increased and the British government sent Britishers to Khulna city for various purposes. They established Khulna Club in 1885 for their entertainment. Later, after the independence of Bangladesh, Khulna Club Limited was acquired by Khulna District Council. Since then, Khulna Club Limited has been privately run under the supervision of Khulna District Council. Currently, Khulna Club is located on Upper Jessore Road, between Khulna Circuit House and Khulna Zilla School. It is open daily from 10 am to midnight.[2][4][5]
