NOW Art is a public art agency based in Los Angeles that seeks to connect artists with civic agencies, developers, corporations, and community organizations. It has been the recipient of awards and commendations from the American Institute of Architects and the city of Los Angeles for projects ranging from augmented reality installations to community murals.[1]

NOW Art's projects include LUMINEX, an outdoor exhibition in downtown Los Angeles featuring projection and sound art.[2] Artists featured in 2024 LUMINEX installations include JOJO ABOT, Refik Anadol, Alice Bucknell, Nao Bustamante, Petra Cortright, Marc Horowitz, Carole Kim, and Sarah Rara.[3] LUMINEX was included on TimeOut LA's "Best of 2021" list as the "best city festival."[4]

History & Mission

NOW Art was founded in 2016 by public art curator and producer Carmen Zella to "democratize art" by expanding public access to artworks, artists, and activations.[5] [6] In addition to its commercial and civic work, NOW Art has a charitable division, the NXT Art Foundation, that was established to elevate civic dialogue and cultural awareness.[7]

NOW Art operates locally, nationally, and internationally to support both acclaimed and emerging artists. The agency's partners and clients include Walmart, Panasonic, and Los Angeles County.[8]

Notable Projects

•LUMINEX: NOW Art curates this outdoor exhibition to bring art and community together in downtown Los Angeles. It attracts more than 40,000 live and online attendees.[9]

•Community Mural Program: NOW Art has partnered with Walmart to mobilize hundreds of artists across the nation to create public-facing, community-focused murals.[10] [11] [12]
