Pendang Science Academy or Akademi Sains Pendang (ASP), previously known as Sekolah Menengah Sains Pendang (PENDETA) is a government Fully Residential School (Sekolah Berasrama Penuh) located in Pendang, Kedah. The school has officially been in operation since 18 April 2021 with a pioneering batch of 88 students.
The academy is the first instituition under the Ministry of Education that houses intellectually talented students of Malaysia. This institution is also the first to execute the Pintar Cerdas Education Program (Program Pendidikan Pintar Cerdas), which is a key initiative under the Pelan Pembangunan Pendidikan Malaysia (PPPM) 2013-2025 that aims to develop students' potential in an optimal manner. This model of operation is based upon that of the PERMATApintar National Gifted Center at the National University of Malaysia (Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia).
In 2024, the pioneering graduates of Pendang Science Academy have achieved a School Grade Point Average or Gred Purata Sekolah (GPS) of 0.38 in Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examinations, where 10 candidates of 16 years of age and one 15-year-old candidate managed to obtain straight As. Two candidates, namely Teoh You Le and Raymond Hwa Yee Pang, have obtained 9A+ and above.
