Peter Moreton (born 28 March 1968) is a British actor, director, writer, musician, and producer. He is known for his Shakespearean stage work with Cheek by Jowl, his role in the Royal Shakespeare Company's *Henry VI*, and as Barnabas in the 2025 television drama Testament.[1]
Early life and education
[edit]Born in Hertfordshire, Moreton trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.[2]
Theatre career

[edit]Moreton is a core ensemble member of Cheek by Jowl. Critics praised:
- His portrayal of **Antigonus** and **The Old Shepherd** in The Winter’s Tale (2016–17) as “unusually dignified and even heroic”.[3]
- The production received favorable reviews from *Lux Times*, noting its balance and theatrical success.[4]
He also appeared in *Hamlet*, *As You Like It*, and *‘Tis Pity She’s a Whore*.[5]
Royal Shakespeare Company
