Jasmine Brasil Santos (born 19 April 2000), known professionally as prod. jay, is a British music producer, composer, and independent game developer. She is best known for her 2019 track "Kush Kloud", which gained viral popularity on the social media platform TikTok as the sound for the "Star Draw" trend in 2022.[1][2]
Santos began her career developing independent games and releasing music through online platforms. She has composed music for several indie games, including titles for the developer Idiom Creations. She is also the primary creator behind the UNA universe, a long-term multimedia world-building project co-developed with artist Mar.[3]
Career
[edit]2017–2019: Early career and education
[edit]Santos began producing music around the age of 17, using royalty-free sample websites and the digital audio workstation FL Studio. Her early musical background was primarily in hip-hop and rap music.[4] Her earliest official releases began in 2017, with her first major distribution deal through Amuse starting in October 2018.[5]
While studying at Barking and Dagenham College, Santos participated in a work experience program with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Sport Relief. Her concept for a mobile video game addressing the issue of malaria was chosen as one of the winning ideas, for which she received a Certificate of Commendation from AWS.[6] She went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Computer Game Development from the University of East London.[7]
2019–present: "Kush Kloud" and game development
[edit]In 2019, Santos released the album VaporLand under the alias prod. jay. A track from the album, "Kush Kloud", gained significant attention on TikTok in subsequent years, becoming a viral sound used in tens of thousands of videos on the platform.[1] The song's popularity was covered by content creators such as Jarred Jermaine, who analyzes the origins of viral music trends.[1] As of June 2025, "Kush Kloud" has accumulated over 10.5 million streams on Spotify, while the album VaporLand has surpassed 10.8 million streams on the platform.[8][9] In 2025, Santos released her debut music video for the single "lovin u".[10]
Alongside her music career, Santos works as an independent game developer and freelance composer. She has published several games on the platform itch.io, including RUSTORATION 2D and LockChat.[11] She has also collaborated with the indie studio Idiom Creations as a composer and sound designer, providing the official soundtracks for their games Burn the Witch, Palmaggeddon, and Petite Crimes.[12][13][14]
Santos is currently partnered with the music distributor Symphonic Distribution, which handles her releases.[15] In an interview, she cited the late American rapper XXXTentacion as her biggest musical inspiration.[4]
Personal life
[edit]Santos is a transgender woman of mixed Black African (from Mozambique) and White European (from Portugal) descent. She is bilingual, speaking both English and Portuguese.[16] She is a self-taught producer based in East London.[2]

I was roughly around the age of 17. I was using my microwave of a PC that I had at the time and found this royalty free sample website called Looperman... I decided to get Fruity Loops (FL Studio) and the rest is history. Growing up, I listened to a lot of rap and hip-hop, so naturally, that ended up being the genre I started out with.
