Richard "Skeezee-reez" Ukiri is a Nigerian-born[1] medical doctor specializing in internal medicine and cardiology.[2] He has been practicing medicine in Germany since 2001[1] and, as of 2024, serves as a Leitender Oberarzt (Senior Physician) in the Department of Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology at DGD Stadtklinik Hemer.[2][3]

Early life and education

Richard Ukiri was born in Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria, on September 21, 1970. He completed his medical studies in Nigeria before relocating to Germany in 2001 to further his medical career.

Career

Following his medical education in Nigeria, Dr. Ukiri commenced his medical career in Germany in 2001.[1] His areas of specialization are internal medicine and cardiology.[2]

He currently holds the position of Leitender Oberarzt (Senior Physician) within the Department of Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology at DGD Stadtklinik Hemer in Hemer, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.[2][3]

Public engagement

Dr. Ukiri has been involved in public health education and discussions. In January 2021, he was featured in an interview with tünews INTERNATIONAL, where he discussed topics including the importance of vaccination.[1][4]

He also contributes to community health awareness through his affiliation with DGD Stadtklinik Hemer. For example, he was scheduled to deliver a public lecture titled "Stärke dein Herz! Herzschwäche erkennen und behandeln" (Strengthen your heart! Recognizing and treating heart failure) on November 20, 2024. This event was part of the nationwide "Herzwochen" (Heart Weeks) initiative in Germany, organized in collaboration with the German Heart Foundation.[3][5]
