Based in Auckland, she first gained underground recognition for independently released tracks including "Unstable", "Sacrifice", and "Venom".
Early life
[edit]Tiara Johnson was born in Greenlane, Auckland. She began singing in school choirs at the age of six and performed in several community events at venues such as Vector Arena and Auckland Town Hall. During her teenage years, she began experimenting with songwriting and production, primarily using GarageBand and BandLab. Career
[edit]2018–2022: Early work and demos
[edit]Johnson began releasing music under the name TIIARA in 2018. Early demos such as "4:20 D.O.P.E.", "Murda Dat B*tch", and "Stacks" reflected a raw DIY approach and began circulating online. In 2020, she briefly released the single "Hard Out Here", which was later removed for creative reasons.
In November 2022, she released the track "Unstable", which marked a turning point in her artistic direction and received attention for its emotionally resonant lyrics and moody production.
2023–2024: "Sacrifice" and artistic evolution
[edit]In May 2023, she released the demo "Sacrifice", followed in February 2024 by a reimagined version titled "Sacrifice 2.0", featuring American artist Gannøn. That same month, she released the instrumental track "Sanctuary", continuing to develop her ambient and minimalist production style. In October 2024, she released "Venom", a darker single that reflected her evolving sound.
2025–present: Transition to sheiistiiara
[edit]In early 2025, she adopted the professional alias sheiistiiara across streaming platforms and social media. Her first release under the new name was "Bed", followed by a remix of "Better Off" produced by Kai Vortex. While she continues to be recognized under the TIIARA moniker, sheiistiiara reflects her current creative identity.
Musical style and influences
[edit]Her sound is often described as a mix of indie pop, electronic, trip-hop, and alternative. TIIARA’s music is known for its atmospheric arrangements, minimalistic beats, and emotionally vulnerable lyrics. Her self-production and DIY ethic are central to her artistic identity.
