Meteorological history
[edit]Zack originated from a disturbance in the eastern Caroline Islands. The disturbance that eventually became Zack was first detected on October 21. On October 22, its circulation was identified as deep convection increased. The JTWC issued its first warning on Tropical Depression 28W, which 30 hours later upgraded to Tropical Storm Zack. The storm began to intensify at a rate of 11 km/h (7 mph) every 6 hours as it was tracking towards the Visayan Islands of the Philippines. Zack upgraded to typhoon status the next day, on October 28.
