Career

[edit]

During the course of the 29th World Memory Championships (WMSC) which was held in Karachi, Sindh, she successfully qualified to the grand finals.[2] She, alongside her teammate Syeda Kisa Zehra, broke multiple world records and Alam competed in at least ten different disciplines in the three-day course. She beat more than 300 competitors from other parts of the world, including India, Malaysia, Algeria, China, Canada, the UK, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Libya, Qatar, Iraq, South Korea, Vietnam, and the United States to win the world title.[3][4] Emma Alam memorized 218 names in a space of 15 minutes and 195 dates (fictional) in a space of 5 minutes, in order to accomplish the world records and to secure the world title.[5] After winning the world title in 2020, she gave credit to her coach and insisted that the intense daily practice by her coach eventually paid off.[6][5] She teamed up with Abeerah Ather, Syeda Kisa Zehra and Syed Nabeel Hasan to help Pakistan win the overall world title during the 2020 WMSC.[3]

She also took part in the 3rd edition of the Asia Pacific Memory Championships in Malaysia and represented the Pakistan contingent at the 28th edition of the WMSC.[1] She underwent intense training under the guidance of the Institute of Human Memory Development International.[5][1] She was granted the honorable recognition as Pride of Pakistan by the Inter-Services Public Relations for her achievements in memory competitions.
