- In the context of warfare, a member of an lightly equipped irregular military force, formed to oppose a foreign invading army or army of occupation by limited combat, with the prime purpose of their ejection. Examples of major significant Partisan forces in World War Two were in Russia, Italy, Poland and Yugoslavia. Also see resistance movement.
- Someone with a personal or professional commitment to one particular party, faction, cause, or person; such a partisan may also be described as being partisan, and their outlook as partisan views.
- A pole weapon resembling a broad-bladed spear with laterally projecting blades below the tip.
