Koothattukulam Junction

Koothattukulam is a municipality[3] in the Ernakulam district of Kerala, India. It is located 32 km (19.9 mi) south of the district collectorate in Thrikkakara and about 156 km (96.9 mi) north of the state capital Thiruvananthapuram. As per the 2011 Indian census, Koothattukulam has a population of 17,253 people, and a population density of 755/km2 (1,960/sq mi).Situated at the junction of Ernakulam, Kottayam, and Idukki districts, it lies in the foothills of the Western Ghats and is part of the “Keezhmalanad” region.

The town comprises four main localities: Koothattukulam, Vadakara, Paittakulam, and Kizhakombu. It is predominantly inhabited by Syrian Christians. St. John's Orthodox Syrian church at Vadakara, Koothattukulam is one of the oldest Syrian Christian churches in Malankara. It was established in the 1096 by the Syrian Christians of Piravom Syrian Valiyapally. Economy & Agriculture

Koothattukulam’s economy is primarily based on agriculture, with major crops including rubber, paddy, coconut, areca nut, ginger, turmeric, and pepper.

Tourism. The St Jude shrine(Holy Family Church) is one of the Catholic Church and Shiva Temple at Arjunan Mala are the main tourist places in Koothattukulam.

Governance

The town is governed by a municipal council, with Vijaya Sivan serving as the Chairman and Sunny Kuriakose as the Vice Chairman. The municipality has implemented various digital initiatives and welfare programs.
