(Redirected from Methoxide)

An alkoxide ion is the ion made by taking a hydrogen ion (H+) off the oxygen atom of an alcohol. Alkoxide ions have a charge of -1. They include an alkane, which is bonded to an oxygen with a negative charge. Alkoxides are also the compounds made with an alkoxide ion and a positive ion, like sodium methoxide.
