Lovewrecked is a comedy directed by Randal Kleiser and starring Amanda Bynes. It was produced as a feature film by Media 8. Principle photography on Lovewrecked began in 2004 and the film was completed in 2005. The Weinstein Company purchased the rights from Media 8 and, after several attempts at theatrical distribution in the U.S., finally sold the TV rights to the ABC Family Channel. The film premiered on television on January 21, 2007 at 8/7c. It is an adventurous romantic comedy about a girl getting stranded with a rock idol on a beach in the Caribbean.
Plot outline
An 18-year old rock & roll fan finds her crafty scheme to have a little fun in the sun with her favorite musician thwarted in this romantic teen comedy starring Amanda Bynes and Jamie-Lynn Sigler. Jenny (Bynes) is a wide-eyed teen who has recently been hired to work at a popular tropical resort for the summer. When Jenny learns that handsome rock star Jason (Chris Carmack) will be a guest at the posh resort, her excitement is simply too powerful to contain. Fortunately for Jenny, fate is on her side this summer, and when Jason falls overboard from his cruise ship Jenny reflexively dives in to save him. Upon rafting to the safety of a nearby shore, Jenny convinces the hunky rocker that the pair are castaways on a deserted island paradise. Of course, considering that the luxury resort is just a stone's throw away, this minor deception is a bit of a stretch, but what's a little white lie when the object of her affections is none the wiser? Jenny's brilliant plan for romance is soon complicated, however, when her romantic rival, Alexis (Sigler), washes ashore pretending to be shipwrecked as well. Now, as the pair competes for Jason's affections, Jenny's deception rapidly begins to unravel.

International Title/Releases
Temptation Island was the distribution title for Lovewrecked when it was released in different countries over the 2005 and 2006 year period. Originally, when Media 8 was to distribute the film, North America was supposed to see the film in theaters before any other country. After selling the North American distribution rights to The Weinstein Company, Media 8 Entertainment hoped it could take care of the project. But since the Weinstein Co. had just started it's own company, it did not have enough money and partnership with other companies to fully release Lovewrecked. It also was situated over other films. After 2 years of trouble, The Weinstein Company sold the TV rights to the ABC Family Network in 2007, thus making North America one of the last countries to see Lovewrecked. Most recently however the film was acquired by Delanic Films in the UK, making the UK one of the few countries in which Lovewrecked could be seen nationally on the big-screen.
