Michał Szubarczyk (born 12 January 2011) is a Polish professional snooker player. In 2025, at the age of 14 years-old, he won a nomination for a two-year card on the World Snooker Tour starting from the 2025–26 snooker season.

Early and personal life

[edit]

He is from Lublin, Poland.[1] His mother works in a bank, and father, Kamil, ran his own business before moving to part-time work to support his son as snooker coach and manager. Father and son had watched the sport on television together and Michal developed an interest so they started playing snooker together at a local club, when he was six years old. He also likes playing football and chess. He scored his first snooker maximum break in practise at the age of 12.[2][3][4] He uses home education instead of traditional school education to reconcile his student duties and snooker training.[5]

Career

[edit]

At the age of 12 years-old, he won the Polish national championships at under-18 and under-21 level.[6] In January 2024, he reached the quarter-final of the senior Polish snooker championships, aged 13 years-old.[7] He became the Polish champion at six-red snooker, and became the Polish U-16 pool champion and the Polish junior champion at Snooker Shoot Out.[8]

In August 2024, he won the IBSF World Under-21 Snooker Championship at the age of 13 years-old, defeating German Alexander Widau in the final in Bengaluru, India. He became the youngest ever winner of the tournament.[9] He had lost in the under-17 semi-final earlier in the same week.[10][11]

In March 2025, he won both the under-16 and EBSA European Under-18 Snooker Championship titles.[12][13] Later that month, he reached the final of the EBSA European Snooker Championship with a win over former professional Harvey Chandler. In the final he lost to former professional Liam Highfield. With these results he won a nomination for the World Snooker Tour for the 2025–26 snooker season. Should he accept the nomination, he will become the youngest ever professional snooker player.[14][15][16] He was awarded a place into the qualifying rounds for the 2025 World Snooker Championship where he lost in the first round 10-8 to Dean Young.[17][18]
