Microsoft Dev Home

Microsoft Dev Home was launched by Microsoft in May 2023 as a Windows 11 to assist developers to streamline the setup process of a development environment. However, in January 2025, Microsoft announced that it will be deprecating Dev Home in May 2025.[1][2][3]
Development history

It allowed the user to setup a "dev drive" using ReFS. It allowed the user to set environment variables. It allowed the user to change common developer-oriented settings such as showing file extensions in Windows Explorer. It allowed the user to install software using the Windows Package Manager (winget).

The message doesn't say which parts of the app will survive the culling, or where they'll end up. It just mentions that the Dev Home app as a whole will be going away in May 2025, meaning developers who use this app will need to look for alternatives soon.
