Ciudad Acuña
Hi! I thought I was going batty for a moment when what I thought was done was undone until I checked. Here is the deal - feel free to call it whatever you want to call it because I won't object. My problem came from XERF and Brinkley which I have contribed a lot of info to (I have actually been to Ciudad Acuña and the old XERF.) But there are links to Villa Acuña and Ciudad Acuña and Ciadad Acuña, so I reasoned that the actual name of the place was Acuña because Villa and Ciudad were descriptive terms. That is why I put in the redirects to preserve all of the links. This is in keeping with place names like Gloucester in England which is a city. It is listed on Wikipedia as Gloucester. However, whatever you want to finally do is fine by me. MPLX/MH 19:19, 6 Feb 2005 (UTC)
- No objection here but could you do this? I have moved on to Border-blaster and I have just created a stub article and added one reference so far and a list of places and stations. I get the impression that you may be able to help out here as well. If I work on the stations at Border-blaster could you improve the locations (after you have finished with Acuña, because I really don't have more to add to that article at the moment)? My geographical listing of place names is very, very basic and would look a lot better with some geographical additions. Thanks. MPLX/MH 20:03, 6 Feb 2005 (UTC)
- Thanks for the work on Border-blaster so far. I have to go out for awhile, so I am going off line. If you want to add more info please do. For instance, the reason why Monterrey was used was because of its height above sea level. XEG used to blast into Texas during the 1970s like a local radio station at night. Geographical explanations such as this would help the aricle. For instance, the West Coast stations had offices in Los Angeles and all of the cities within their coverage area were their target audience. Same goes for all other locations to explain what was within earshot of them. That would make sense of the article from the reader's standpoint. I will return later to add text about the stations themselves. By the way, there does not seem to be a Wikipedia entry for Nuevo Larado MPLX/MH 20:40, 6 Feb 2005 (UTC)
- Much better! Are you any good at maps? What would really help now is a good and large map that will fit alongside the contents box. It should show the geographical locations in Mexico and their geographical relationship to the USA.
- I like your map! MPLX/MH 21:56, 7 Feb 2005 (UTC)
Norman Borlaug
I've nominated the Norman Borlaug article as the next Collaboration of the Week, as the article is pretty short considering that he saved a billion lives. Please vote for it at: Wikipedia:Collaboration_of_the_Week#Norman_Borlaug --brian0918™ 23:50, 7 Feb 2005 (UTC)
A new idea for some Mexican city articles
I got into this whole subject via radio history and that led to border blasters and that led to Brinkley and his sex treatments which led to straightening up articles about Viagra, Cialis and Levitra which were not related at the time and should have been. So I also added a media link back to Brinkley. I am gradually working on the various stations after first creating stubs - I have done XER and XERA. But I have come across something else of interest - maybe something fun that you would like to do. Nuevo Laredo, Jurarez amd Tijuana were also built up as "Boy's Towns" - sex towns. So Brinkley was advertising his treatments and the girls were providing the outlet. This is an interesting topic that even links to Texas and the musical "Best Little Whorehouse in Texas". S'funny how one thing leads to another in these articles. (I have just written a basic article about the Official Solicitor after rewriting Radio Newyork International. So while you are still working on the border towns perhaps you would like to take on the "Boy's Towns" topic as well? MPLX/MH 23:45, 9 Feb 2005 (UTC)
Oops!
Thanks a bunch for catching my mistake on Mazatlán. I read southernmost tip of the Baja California peninsula but didn't see the important across from before it. foobaz·✐ 07:35, 15 Feb 2005 (UTC)
MoS
Hi Hajor, I agree with what you wrote on the MoS talk page that forcing people to write about Europe in British English is like drawing up the borders at Yalta. LOL It's a good analogy. I also object to people being forced to write about the EU in any particular style too, and have said so on the talk page. Best, SlimVirgin 22:15, Feb 17, 2005 (UTC)
Pic of the day
Hi Hajor,
Just to let you know that your photo Image:USA.NM.VeryLargeArray.02.jpg is up for Pic of the Day again tomorrow. I've used the same caption as last time, but you can make any changes at Wikipedia:Picture of the day/February 20, 2005. -- Solipsist 10:02, 19 Feb 2005 (UTC)
Thanks
for unmoving the Vicente Lombardo Toledano page and for the other changes. I had his first name right originally, but managed to convince myself that I was wrong. Are you up for tackling an article on Fidel Velásquez? Italo Svevo 21:57, 24 Feb 2005 (UTC)
- I'll be looking forward to your article on Cananea--and I'll try to slap something together on tyrranosaurus fidel. -- Italo Svevo 04:23, 25 Feb 2005 (UTC)
La Cantuta massacre
Wow! great job! -- Viajero 18:28, 1 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Thanks, I owe you one! -- Viajero 00:53, 2 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Recent deaths
Hi Hajor: Why is "aviation accident" preferable to "airplane crash" in Recent deaths? I am not challenging your change—I just want to know what prompted it. --Theo (Talk) 18:48, 4 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Thank you for your explanation. Good thinking! --Theo (Talk) 19:13, 4 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Good work. [1] Now, how about reinstating the picture? ;) - Viajero 14:15, 6 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- Another question for you: I noticed on Truth and Reconciliation Commission that there is a disambig link to Comisión de la Verdad y Reconciliación, which doesn't exist yet. As far you know, were there any other CVRs in other Latin American countries? I don't see any with Google, though I thought Guatemala might have had one. If not that title would be fine. Of course, one could also call it Truth and Reconciliation Commission (Peru) with a redirect, but that is a bit longer. No big deal, just curious as to what you think. -- Viajero 14:33, 6 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- Ok, we have short piece now: Truth and Reconciliation Commission (Peru). It could use a little more of the data published in the final report but a quick look at the website didn't reveal quite what I was looking for. To be continued... -- Viajero 20:00, 9 Mar 2005 (UTC)

I see that you are reverting most of my modifications on the Alberto Fujimori Page. May I know why? You are not even discussing them in the talk page (except for the grammatic stuff). I already know that you support anything that Viajero is doing, no matter is right or wrong (I saw your user name on the RfC, even that you have not appear anywhere until that). I will not dissobey the 3 rv rules. But It would be a good example if you can explain your atitude. Messhermit 17:31, 6 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Thanks for your explanation.
Thanks for responding. As a option for terminate this discussion (becouse Viajero is most likely to continue and so I am I), I will propose a Compromise. If you have any objections to it, please let me known them at my talk page. Messhermit 18:21, 6 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Cairo Metro
Hello Hajor,
are you have more images from the Cairo Metro? I search different images for the german wikipedia at the commons. Greetings --Jcornelius15:26, 9 Mar 2005 (UTC)
thanks Hajor
I have seen where various folks around here have acquired STARs that other wikipedians seem to have given them. So here is one for you. Wear it with pride [or stash it under your kitchen sink]. It's yours. Carptrash 23:06, 14 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- I can vividly remember being in 4th grade or so and feeling so contemptious of those little girls [some boys too] who'd wave their hands and shout, "Teacher, teacher, did I get it right?" I am much more understanding, even humble these days. I might even have to figure out another star for you - after I know for sure we are done. Oh yes, did you see my statue photo in Mazatlan ? Ríos Montt
I know much more about Ríos Montt than about Fujimori; going to leave that one to the experts I think. Do keep an eye on my edits. --SqueakBox 03:52, Mar 15, 2005 (UTC) Actually after working with Javier Solana, the most controversial Spanish speaking politician in wikipedia I would hazard a guess (people think he is the antichrist), these are light relief.--SqueakBox 04:14, Mar 15, 2005 (UTC)
Toilet Humo(u)r
My Americanization drive stemmed from boredom. I don't think articles should mix, however, and that article has some examples of "humor." I think those should be changed to "humour." Either Brits or Americans are going to be annoyed, but it's better to have one or the other instead of both.

I know there's lots of stuff to be done, but I thought I'd found my own original goal. A wikipedia with completely standardized spelling. They wouldn't give me barnstars, they'd give me the Nobel Prize! It was just a pipe dream, however.
Don't worry, I will find my cause yet! It may not be ridding wikipedia of all ises, ours, nnes, and res; but it will be profound!

Tlaquepaque
Thanks for the clarifications in the text of Tlaquepaque. Previous contributors like me had basically been working off a poorly-written Spanish version which had been imported into the English Wikipedia, and which was difficult to translate. I didn't have a clue what Toro y Castillo were and don't know enough about Mexico to have been able to hazard a guess, and also couldn't picture the place, never having been there. Good job. Dos Erres
Agreed and done. thankyou for following me around correcting my typos and filling in my lack of info about what sites the Guatemalan theme contains. I was in Guatemala for 5 months up till just after the November election, and can honestly say that it was an event that profoundly changed my life. --SqueakBox 02:32, Mar 18, 2005 (UTC)
No, I meant it in a good way, you've been really helping; collaborative effort in action. And I have a slight visual distortion still after being hit on the head with a machete in October, so my copy edit is not good either , and I generally welcome others following my work. Did I read correctly you are in Mexico City? Just curious. --SqueakBox 04:53, Mar 18, 2005 (UTC)
I am in La Ceiba in Honduras, if you didn't know that already. Honduras politics tends be much less intersting though I wrote Security situation in Honduras. I am only just getting the hang of how to write and/or edit an encyclopedic article, and find it a fascinating process, so I hope to get the Guatemala section much better and then maybe move on to Nicaragua which I only know a bit. --SqueakBox 05:25, Mar 18, 2005 (UTC)

Human Rights Day
Thanks for the expansion of Human Rights Day. I've got the plan to expand these UN observances on the back burner, but you beat me to this one. So, thanks for the encouragement to get going on it! Gareth Hughes 20:11, 18 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Style guide -- splitting the difference
You're welcome. I'd like to add that I respect and appreciate your voice in the discussion. You've always presented good reasoning in a courteous way. Maurreen 07:15, 19 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Dates
Thanks for the dates info, I was doing it wrong I see, desde para siempre. Oh dear! --SqueakBox 03:59, Mar 20, 2005 (UTC)
Another request:
Remember the great job you did in creating the Border blasters map? Well, I have been working on several related articles and one of them Province of the Carolanas could sure do with a good map because the one on there I linked from the Carolina article. But this is the Carolana article with a big emphasis on Houston, Texas. I need a map that goes from coast to coast and shows where Houston is and I thought that there was no one better to ask than Hajor! MPLX/MH 04:45, 25 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Hello there, Help request !
Hello there !. It is me, Messhermit. Regardless of what happened on the Fujimori Article, I would like you to help me in other topics.
- I already put the postal stamp (as I promise) on the Ancón Treaty. If you can find some info (for example, the Chilean oppinion about the treaty, it would be interesting.
- Also, I see that some time ago (like a year or something) you stated something in the Greater Colombia article. I need help to expand it and also to resolve the map that is in the page: It shows an innacurate border with Peru (taking 1/3 of my country), and I need help to settled a compromise for it.
Anyways, Thanks for any help or recomendation that you can gave. Please feel free to respond at my talk page. Messhermit 21:11, 28 Mar 2005 (UTC)
"Procuraduría"
hi, last night I expanded the Fujimori article a little bit with a reference to a report by the so-called "Unidad Financiera Estratégica y de Cooperación Internacional (UFEC) of the Procuraduría". I am not entirely sure what the Procuraduría is; some part of the judicial system? Also, unlike some people, I am reluctant to anglicize proper names unless I think that an English translation has been established. What do you do when you encounter something like the Unidad in a translation? Thanks. -- Viajero 10:34, 2 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- Thanks for the customarily thorough explanation. I guess they must have added the Estratégica so as to indicate that they weren't just chasing after vendedoras de anticuchos on the shores of Lake Titicaca. Why don't we leave the entry as is for a day or two, for, ahem... strategic reasons, then tweak it accordingly? Best, Viajero 15:42, 2 Apr 2005 (UTC)
