Souhegan High School
Souhegan High School is a high school located in Amherst, New Hampshire. It is part of the SAU-39 school district. Students from Amherst and Mont Vernon, New Hampshire attend Souhegan for 9th through 12th grades.
Its name is derived from the Souhegan River which runs straight through the back of the school. It also serves the town of Mont Vernon, New Hampshire in addition to Amherst.
Souhegan is probably best known for one of its current substitute teachers: Jack Learson, CEO of Jack Learson Enterprises (JLE.) Along with his substitution duties, the celebrity also teaches a one-period-per-day class about marketing techniques that is so secretive, not even the few students who are chosen to take the class know the name of the course. On report cards, student handbooks, and other literature that would contain the name of the class, it is labeled as "Class X."
Souhegan is also noted for it's employment of Sean Whelan.
The Saber Scribe
Souhegan's School newspaper, the Saber Scribe, is written fully by students. [citation needed]
Clubs and Activites
Many Souhegan students enjoy playing recreational activities, such as basketball, baseball, lacrosse, concert band, and many more. Souhegan offers many extra-curricular activities and the number of its clubs continues to grow rapidly. At the beginning of each year, there is a day dedicated to clubs, aptly called "Club Day."
Urination
There are numerous areas throughout the school where urination is acceptable. Of course, the hallways are considered proper enough. However, most students and faculty perform this ritual onto each other (considered the best way to honor a person) or into the mouths of the Mexican slaves that can be found stationed throughout the school.
