Miss World 2008, the 58th Miss World beauty pageant, will be held on October 4, 2008, at the Ukraina National Palace in Kiev, Ukraine.[1] At the conclusion of the final night of competition, outgoing titleholder Zhang Zilin will crown her successor. An official announcement was made confirming the venue during the final telecast of Miss World 2007.

About 110 contestants are expected to arrive in Kiev by September 1st.

  •  Liechtenstein: Verein Miss Liechtenstein is in negotiations to obtain the franchise for Miss World. Winner of the national pageant, Stefanie Kaiser, is 27 years old and would be ineligible to compete in Miss World 2008. If the negotiations are successfully completed, Daniela Ferreira, first runner-up, would take Kaiser's place if Miss World Ltd don't make an exception with the winner.
  •  Thailand: If Miss Thailand World 2008 not held, last year's 1st Runner-up, Ummarapas Julkasian will represent Thailand in Miss World 2008.
  • Tansey Coetzee (South Africa) placed as a semifinalist in Miss Universe 2008. Alizée Poulicek (Belgium), Laura Tanguy (France), Alfina Nassyrova (Kazakhstan), Olivia Carey (Mauritius) and Amanda Ammann (Switzerland) also competed in this pageant, but they unplaced.
  • Tamara Almeida Silva (Brazil) placed a first runner-up at Miss Maja Mundial 2006 and second runner-up at Miss Tourism Queen International 2007.
  • Nataly Chilet (Chile) placed as a finalist in Miss Earth 2005 and a top six finalist in Miss Continente Americano 2007.
