Time is one of the more famous songs from the Dark Side of the Moon album by Pink Floyd. It is noted for its drawn out intro of clocks chiming and alarms ringing, followed by an eery two-minute passage dominated by Nick Mason's rototoms. With David Gilmour and Rick Wright sharing vocal duties, the lyrics of this upbeat song deal with Roger Waters's realisation that life was not about preparing yourself for what happens next, but about grabbing control of your own destiny there and then (he attributes his earlier ignorance of this to his mother's obsession with education). An impressive guitar solo from Gilmour and a reprise of the album's opener 'Breathe' bring this song to a close before it segue's into The Great Gig In The Sky.
