Lilibet "Lili" Diana Mountbatten-Windsor (born 4 June 2021) is the daughter of Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex. She is the eleventh great-grandchild of Queen Elizabeth II and is eighth in the line of succession to the British throne.[1]

Birth and family

Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor is the second child of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. She was born at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara, California, on 4 June 2021 at 11:40 PDT (18:40 UTC). She is named after her paternal great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, whose family nickname is Lilibet,[1][2] and paternal grandmother, Diana, Princess of Wales.[3] Her nickname is "Lili".[4]

Mountbatten-Windsor descends paternally from the British royal family and has mixed-race ancestry.[5] She has dual nationality of the United States and the United Kingdom.[6]

Title and succession

Mountbatten-Windsor is eighth in the line of succession to the British throne and as of 2021 is the most senior individual in the line to be born overseas.[6] Akin to her brother Archie Mountbatten-Windsor, it is unlikely that she will have a title.[7] Under Letters Patent issued by King George V in 1917, she is entitled to become a princess upon the accession of her grandfather, Charles, Prince of Wales.[1]
