In 2021, Francisco Partners invested in NewsBreak during its $115 million Series C funding round and joined the company's board of directors. NewsBreak focuses on local news distribution using machine learning.[10]

At the 2024 LMA Digital Innovation Awards, sponsored by the Alliance for Audited Media, NewsBreak was honored in the “Over 250,000 Monthly Page Views” category for its AI-powered wildfire coverage. The platform created a live, interactive map with real-time updates from regional sources, helping Southern California residents access critical information during emergencies. The award highlighted how AI can enhance public service and newsroom efficiency.[11]
