Veronica Electronica is an upcoming remix album by American singer-songwriter Madonna, set to be released on July 25, 2025, through Warner Records.

Background

Envisioned by Madonna as a remix album accompanying her seventh studio album Ray of Light (1998), the release never came to fruition due to the album and it's accompany singles' ongoing commercial at the time and remained a long-rumored project. It features rare and unreleased remixes from producers Madonna worked with at the time, including Peter Rauhofer, William Orbit, Sasha, BT, and Victor Calderone. Most of the remixes feature on the singles. However, some have been merged together to create a new edit for the remix album. It will also include "Gone Gone Gone", a previously unreleased demo that was recorded during the Ray of Light sessions with producer Rick Nowels. On June 5, 2025, Madonna announced the album will be released on digital and streaming services and on a limited-edition silver vinyl on July 25, 2025. In promoting the campaign, she released the Collaboration remix to the album track, "Skin".

Title and artwork

Throughout the original album's campaign, Madonna commented that Veronica Electronica is the nickname to the alter-ego Madonna gave herself during the recording of the Ray of Light album. Additionally, the name is one of her middle names, originating from her Catholic confirmation when she was a child. During the album's promotion campaign, MTV journalist, Kurt Loder interviewed Madonna and she stated that the alter-ego is medieval. According to spokesperson Liz Rosenberg, Madonna considered titling the original album Mantra, which she thought was a "really cool title", and she also considered calling it Veronica Electronica; however, she discarded both of those ideas and called it Ray of Light, as her studio albums up to that point were always titled after one of the songs from each album's tracklist.. Thematically, the first five edits were created after the idea of a trippy DJ set performed in an underground club, Veronica being a girl dancing to it with the music progressively putting her into a trance. The last three could be described as the after-hour segment you chill to before leaving the dance floor and going back to the real world.

On Instagram, Madonna stated that "Making my Ray of Light album was a seminal moment in my life as an artist. I was going through a huge metamorphosis. I had given birth to my daughter Lola. I had found my spiritual path and I was ready to shed a new skin and take a road less traveled by I ventured into electronic music with William Orbit and I created an alter ego, taking one of my middle names- and Veronical Electronica was born," her statement continued. "Meet my other half". On June 6, 2025 she also posted an artificial intelligence generated video clip of the artwork.

The artwork uses photos originally created by Inez van Lamsweerde for the April 1998 issue of Spin, while one of them has been later picked by Madonna as cover shot for "The Power Of Good-Bye" single.
