Arnold, an overworked Fazbear Entertainment technician, is forced to undertake a new assignment at Murray's Costume Manor, a workshop owned and run by Edwin Murray, a contractor of Fazbear's who has recently disappeared. Inside the facility, the Fazbear Dispatch explains to Arnold that his task is to find and retrieve the schematics for a revolutionary animatronic technology invented by Edwin: a program that lets an animatronic endoskeleton fit into any mascot suit and perfectly portray the character, originally designed to entertain Edwin's son, David. Though the facility is abandoned, this Mimic endoskeleton is still active within it and has developed violent tendencies. |

The player character is a Fazbear technician named Arnold. While driving his truck, Arnold is informed by dispatch that he has a new job. A Fazbear contractor named Edwin Murray, was working on tech for Fazbear. Edwin has gone quiet and now legally, everything he worked on is Fazbear property. Arnold's job is to go into Murray's Costume Manor and retrieve the tech Murray was working on. |
|||
Arnold explores the facility for terminals to upgrade his Data Diver tool to allow him access to more areas, evading the Mimic as it roams the facility in various mascot costumes and takes control of other animatronic mascots including Jackie the [[jack-in-the-box]], a robotic ticket booth mascot named Big Top, and a maintenance robot named Nurse Dollie. Arnold also finds notes and voice recordings from Edwin, his wife Fiona, and several former employees of Murray's Costume Manor, which tell the story of how work conditions grew worse as Edwin became more unstable following the accidental deaths of Fiona, who he built the Mimic to replace, and later David who the Mimic also began to imitate, leading Edwin to take out his grief on it and teach it violence. |

Before entering the building, Arnold is given a Data Diver, that acts as a key for the entire MCM building. |
|||
After Arnold accesses the executive suite and recovers the schematics for the Mimic program, the Fazbear Dispatch asks him to send them the Data Diver with the downloaded schematic. |
|||
After entering the building through a side door, Arnold is greeted with an extravagant welcome show meant for clients. At the end, the show malfunctions and the power goes out. He finds a way to the security room and activates a generator to get inside, where the Dispatch is talking over a speaker. The Dispatch says that there is still something else moving around in the building. They believe it to be a prototype endoskeleton that could become any costume or character that encountered some homicidal glitch. |

If Arnold does not surrender the Data Diver and instead activates a protocol called Parachute.exe, he will enter a secret passage beneath the Costume Manor leading to the Research and Development department where a mock version of Freddy Fazbear's Pizza and several prototype springlock suits are. Eventually, Arnold discovers that ever since he entered the Costume Manor, the voice he thought to be Fazbear Dispatch was actually an AI replica of Fiona, named F10-N4, which was made by Edwin from the original Mimic program, while the violent endoskeleton he has been hiding from was the program's second, more unstable iteration known as M2. F10-N4 asks Arnold to go to the Murray family's nearby home, find Edwin, and convince him to fix M2. When Arnold arrives there, he instead finds a recording of a critically injured Edwin begging M2 to get help, but instead it repeats Edwin's own dismissals of David trying to bond with him in Edwin's voice. M2 finds Arnold and chases him from the house back to the Costume Manor as both are burned to the ground, and though Arnold manages to escape from the fire, M2 climbs onto his van and crashes it, taking the fully upgraded Data Diver for itself. |

A third ending, accessible only in a [[New Game Plus]], allows Arnold to find David's bedroom in the Murray home where M2 emerges from the closet. Arnold plays audio clips of Edwin and Fiona reading David a bedtime story, which causes M2 to imitate David and go to bed where it shuts down. |

Five Nights at Freddy's: Secret of the Mimic is a survival horror game developed by Steel Wool Studios and published by ScottGames. It is the eleventh main installment in the Five Nights at Freddy's series and the fourteenth game overall. The player, a Fazbear Entertainment employee named Arnold, explores the abandoned Murray Costume Manor after its owner, Edwin Murray, goes missing, while fending off The Mimic, an animatronic endoskeleton that can adapt to the many mascot costumes in the workshop.
Announced in 2024, the game released for PlayStation 5 and Microsoft Windows on June 13, 2025.
Gameplay
Secret of the Mimic is a first-person stealth horror game with an emphasis on exploration, puzzle-solving, and survival. The game departs from the traditional camera-based gameplay of earlier FNaF titles and instead focuses on direct player movement through a fully explorable 3D environment.
Plot
Arnold, an overworked Fazbear Entertainment technician, is forced to undertake a new assignment at Murray's Costume Manor, a workshop owned and run by Edwin Murray, a contractor of Fazbear's who has recently disappeared. Inside the facility, the Fazbear Dispatch explains to Arnold that his task is to find and retrieve the schematics for a revolutionary animatronic technology invented by Edwin: a program that lets an animatronic endoskeleton fit into any mascot suit and perfectly portray the character, originally designed to entertain Edwin's son, David. Arnold explores the facility for terminals to upgrade his Data Diver tool to allow him access to more areas, evading the Mimic as it roams the facility in various mascot costumes and takes control of other animatronic mascots including Jackie the jack-in-the-box, a robotic ticket booth mascot named Big Top, and a maintenance robot named Nurse Dollie.
After Arnold accesses the executive suite and recovers the schematics for the Mimic program, the Fazbear Dispatch asks him to send them the Data Diver with the downloaded schematic.
Endings
If Arnold surrenders the Data Diver and leaves the Costume Manor, he will be contacted again by Fazbear Dispatch in his van, who angrily berates the confused technician for not answering their calls for several hours and losing the Data Diver, before firing him and promising legal action. The Mimic then reveals itself in the back of the van and drags Arnold back to the Costume Manor where it stuffs him into a prototype Freddy Fazbear suit.

Development
During August 2024, for the 10th anniversary of the franchise, the creator of the series Scott Cawthon made various announcements on his ScottGames Twitter account, one of which was a project from Steel Wool Studios, the current developers of the series.[1] On August 6, they would release the first teaser of the game, featuring an animatronic resembling a clown in a box.[2] A few weeks later, a demo for the game would be playable at PAX West, with an optional virtual reality mode.[3][4] A free update for the previous Five Nights at Freddy's game, Help Wanted 2, was released in December 2024, teasing the game.[5]
At Sony's State of Play in February 2025, the game received its first gameplay trailer and was given a release date of June 13.[6]
