Punk the Capital; Building a Sound Movement[1] [2][3]i[4]s a documentary film focusing on the historical roots of the Washington DC punk community. It was produced and directed by filmmaker James June Schneider and co-created by filmmaker Paul Bishow. Sam Lavine was also a producer of the film.

The documentary specifically traces the origin story of three main bands: Bad Brains, Minor Threat and the Slickee Boys. Other bands featured are:

Overkill(DC), White Boy, Untouchables, The Enzymes, Half Japanese, Government Issue, Faith, SOA, Scream, The Nurses, Void, Afrika Korps, The Razz, The Penetrators, Da Chumps, Black Market Baby, Tru Fax and the Insaniacs, DOA, Youth Brigade, Rites of Spring
