The Coalition of The Left and Vesna (Slovene: Koalicija Levice in Vesne) is a political alliance in Slovenia, formed in mid‑2025 ahead of the upcoming parliamentary election. It unites the progressive The Left and Vesna – Green Party into a single electoral list.[1]
History
In early 2025, increasing voices called for deeper cooperation between left-wing and green forces. Representatives of The Left and Vesna signed a cooperation agreement on 17 June 2025, launching a joint electoral platform as a "green‑left coalition of the future".[2][3]
Ideology and platform
The coalition combines The Left’s democratic‑socialist orientation with Vesna's green and sustainable development focus. Their core objectives include:[4]
- Climate justice and accelerated green energy transition
- Strengthening public healthcare and education systems
- Protecting workers’ rights and enhancing social security
- Promoting participatory democracy and governmental transparency
- Supporting feminist and inclusion policies
Electoral performance
National Assembly
The coalition is expected to contest the next parliamentary elections with a unified list. Preliminary polling suggests inclusion among the current parliamentary groups.[5]
