Submission declined on 24 June 2025 by JacobTheRox (talk). This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of events). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.

Comment: You have not cited multiple independent reliable sources that show why this event is significant enough to have an article of its own, even if it did happen. Try find some sources that give significant coverage to the event itself, e.g. a book or article about it. JacobTheRox(talk | contributions) 14:05, 24 June 2025 (UTC)

Rashtrakuta invasion of Ceylon repulsed |
The Invasion of Anuradhapura by Rashtrakuta empire was an event which took place in 958 A.D and it was the first invasion done by the Rashtrakuta empire on Ceylon and the battle determined the sorveneity of Ceylon.[1]
Before the invasion occurred
The Chola monarch Parantaka II attempted to conquer Ceylon but was defeated by the same general which defeated the Rashtrakutas.[2]
After Krishna III defeated the Cholas and slayed the Chola king his dominance over south India was absolute and he extracted tribute from Pandyas and Cheras,[3] He wanted to continue the expansion towards south.
Invasion of Ceylon
The attack from India was by the Rashtrakuta king, Krishna III in 958 A.D in an attempt to gain influence over Ceylon, A Ceylonese army was dispatched to intercept the incoming Army of the Rashtrakutas and The Ceylonese army decisively defeated his attempt on Conquering Ceylon and turning it into a tributary state after the failed attempt of the Rashtrakutas on conquering Ceylon the General of the Ceylonese army (General Sena) made a friendly treaty with the Emperor of the Rashtrakuta empire (Krishna III) this victory of Ceylon spread throughout the entire Jambudipa (South Asia).[1][2][4][5]
Aftermath
Ceylon didn't Participate in the South Indian political fight thus Ceylon was able to stay at peace while Rashtrakutas and Cholas continued fighting until Rashtrakutas lost and around this period the Chola kingdom turned into a empire with this Ceylon was yet again brought into with South India.[4]
According to Rashtrakuta sources
Rashtrakuta king and other sources such as Yasatilaka claims that king was gloriously reigning after having subdued the Pândya, Simhala, Chola, Cherama and other kings.[3]
While there is no evidence of such occupation in Ceylon or Ceylon paying tribute to Rashtrakutas[5]
