Comment: Might be notable but some of this is unsourced and The Cambridge Footlight link just goes to the main page so not helpful. For the acting credits, do not use IMDB as it is not considered a reliable sourced and some of this WP:REFBOMBED (many sources for one fact). Summarize what the say about Owen. Alexander Owen is a British writer and actor. He is one half of comedy duo The Pin alongside Ben Ashenden. Together they co-wrote and starred in Amazon MGM Studios feature film Deep Cover, to critical acclaim.[1] The pair also wrote and starred in hit West End play The Comeback,[2][3][4] and between 2015 and 2019 recorded four series of the multi-award winning[5] BBC Radio 4 show The Pin. As an actor, Owen is best known for appearances in Andor, A Very Royal Scandal, Jurassic World Dominion, and Dreaming Whilst Black, for which he was also a writer.[6]
Early life
Owen was born in London. He studied English literature at St John's College, Cambridge.[citation needed]
Career
Whilst at the University of Cambridge Owen was a member of the Footlights comedy club, where he met future collaborator Ben Ashenden. The pair wrote and performed in two international tours, including Good For You, directed by Liam Williams and Daran Johnson, the first Footlights show to tour America since the 1960s.[7]
After graduating, Owen and Ashenden began taking their double act The Pin to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, where their shows received great critical acclaim.[8][9][10][11] The Guardian called their 2018 outing "one of Edinburgh's most dazzling comedy shows".[12]
They made four series of The Pin[13] for BBC Radio 4, picking up nominations at the 2017 Writers' Guild Awards[14] and Radio Academy Awards, and winning the BBC Radio Award for Best Comedy.[15]
In 2017 Owen and Ashenden created the animated series Oi, Leonardo![16] for BBC3. That same year they also created online series Overheard.[17]
The pair's 2018 Fringe show, The Pin: Backstage, was developed with Sonia Friedman Productions into a full length stage play, The Comeback, which premiered in London's West End in December 2020 to great acclaim.[18][19][20]
In 2020 Owen and Ashenden also released The Special Relationship, an 8-part series on Audible, co-starring Fred Armisen, Cecily Strong, Jamie Demetriou, Lolly Adefope and Kate Berlant.[21]
In 2021 Owen co-wrote and starred in online series Petrichor.[22][23]
In 2022 Owen and Ashenden wrote for and appeared in Dave original series Live at the Moth Club.[24]
Owen's other writing credits include BBC1 shows Walliams and Friend and Tracey Ullman's Show, BBC3's Famalam, Showtime's Who is America? and Dreaming Whilst Black.[25]
Owen's acting credits include The Bubble, What's Love Got to Do with It?, 1899, Victoria, Stath Lets Flats, Ghosts, Intelligence, This Time with Alan Partridge, Ellie & Natasia, and A Whole Lifetime with Jamie Demetriou.[26]
In 2025 it was announced by the BBC that Owen and Ashenden had been commissioned to write Bill's Included, a BBC1 sitcom series starring Rob Brydon, with Babycow producing.[27]
