Submission declined on 9 June 2025 by S0091 (talk). This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of films). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). Comment: Noting I disagree with the rejection. See talk page. S0091 (talk) 20:02, 26 June 2025 (UTC)
Comment: Let the movie release first and get some critics' response in a reliable sources. Then we can look at it from a neutral point of view. Until then, it should stay rejected. I am assuming... once the movie is out, it will automatically become eligible for a Wikipedia page. Charlie (talk) 14:56, 26 June 2025 (UTC)
Comment: I'm declining the speedy on the War 2 redirect. IMHO, this should more properly be at War 2 (2025 film), because in my opinion War 2 is insufficient title information to distinguish it from all other actual war topics. BusterD (talk) 12:30, 11 June 2025 (UTC)
Comment: Wait until there are reviews by nationally recognized critics. S0091 (talk) 18:50, 9 June 2025 (UTC)
Comment: When ready, I think the draft should be moved to War 2, which is currently a redirect. I see no reason for the article to have the (2025) disambiguator. - Arjayay (talk) 16:17, 5 June 2025 (UTC)
Comment: This upcoming movie is notable. It generally passes WP:NFILM and WP:NFF, citing Yash Raj Films as the famous production company, most of the starring casts are highly notable, and the movie has much significant coverage. No offence with @CNMall41:, as in the first instance, I agree to his decision to move to draft due to some bad apples (a.k.a. sock users) responsible for the mess. But right now, according to me, it passes the criteria mentioned above. ☮️Counter-Strike:Mention 269🕉️(🗨️ ● ✉️ ● 📔) 15:33, 5 June 2025 (UTC)
Comment: And this discussion may be relevant at the ICTF project. CNMall41 (talk) 16:32, 1 June 2025 (UTC)
Comment: I will refrain from reviewing as I would continue to declined based on the AfD, socking, and bludgeoning. Resubmitted by experienced user but also adding this which I reference as it discusses this thread to show the history of deletions and draft space moves. CNMall41 (talk) 16:22, 1 June 2025 (UTC)

War 2 is an upcoming Indian Hindi-language action thriller film directed by Ayan Mukerji and produced by Aditya Chopra under Yash Raj Films. A sequel to War (2019) and sixth instalment of YRF Spy Universe, the film stars Hrithik Roshan, N. T. Rama Rao Jr. (in his Hindi debut) and Kiara Advani.[3]
Announced in April 2023 under the title War 2, principal photography commenced in October 2023, with filming taking place in Mumbai, with sporadic schedules in Spain, Italy, Abu Dhabi. The film's soundtrack is composed by Pritam, with a film score composed by Sanchit Balhara and Ankit Balhara.
War 2 is scheduled to release on 14 August 2025, a day before the Indian Independence Day, in standard, IMAX, and other premium formats.[4][5][6]
Cast
- Hrithik Roshan as Major Kabir Dhaliwal
- N. T. Rama Rao Jr.
- Kiara Advani
- Ashutosh Rana as Colonel Sunil Luthra
- Anil Kapoor
Production
Development
At the launch of War, when asked about a sequel, Anand confirmed he was working on the script and had plans to convert the film into a franchise, depending on the audience's response to the film.[7][8] In April 2023, Yash Raj Films confirmed the sequel to War and sixth instalment in the universe titled War 2. Ayan Mukerji was signed as the director replacing Anand, marking his first film in the spy universe, and first venture outside of Dharma Productions.[9][10]
Casting
Shanoo Sharma was the casting director. Hrithik Roshan was confirmed to reprise his role as Major Kabir Dhaliwal.[11] Telugu actor N. T. Rama Rao Jr. was cast in April 2023, marking his debut in Hindi cinema.[12][13] Kiara Advani was cast in July 2023.[14][15] Ashutosh Rana confirmed he would reprise his role from War and Pathaan (2023).[16] Roshan reprised his role in a cameo in the post-credits scene of Tiger 3 which was directed by Mukerji himself.[17][18] Anil Kapoor was cast in July 2024.[19]
Filming
Principal photography began in October 2023 in Salamanca, where a car chase sequence was filmed.[20][21] Due to Roshan and Rao having schedules in Mumbai and Hyderabad for Fighter and Devara: Part 1 respectively, stunt doubles were used in their place.[22] In December 2023, filming took place in Abu Dhabi where a boat chase sequence was filmed.[23] Additional action sequences were filmed at the Yas Marina Circuit.[24]
In March 2024, Roshan shot his introductory sequence in Mumbai. A set resembling a Shaolin Monastery was constructed for the fight sequence.[25][26] In April 2024, Roshan and Rao filmed an aerial action sequence in Vile Parle.[27][28] In August 2024, Advani shot her introductory scene at the Infiniti Mall, Malad.[29] In September 2024, a song featuring Advani and Roshan along with a few action sequences, were filmed over a 15 day schedule in Italy, across Venice, Lake Como, Naples, Tuscany, Sorrento Peninsula and Amalfi Coast.[30][31] In October 2024, a 40-man action sequence featuring Rao was shot in Andheri.[32]
The film's climax was shot in December 2024 at constructed sets in Film City and YRF Studios in Mumbai.[33] Action directors, Spiro Razatos, Se-yeong Oh and Sunil Rodrigues choreographed the sequence.[34] A dance sequence featuring Roshan and Rao, choreographed by Bosco Martis, was scheduled to be filmed in March 2025 featuring more than 500 background dancers;[35][36] however, it was filmed in June 2025 after Roshan sustained a leg injury during rehearsals.[37] Rao began dubbing in the same month.[38]
The film has been shot in multiple locations across Mumbai, Spain, Italy, and Abu Dhabi.[39]
Music
The film's soundtrack has been composed by Pritam, with the lyrics written by Amitabh Bhattacharya. The film score is composed by Sanchit Balhara and Ankit Balhara.[40]
Marketing
The film's official teaser was released on 20 May 2025, coinciding with Rao's 42nd birthday.[41] Major criticism was directed at the teaser's production quality, low-grade visuals, and the action choreography. Some fans also expressed disappointment with the casting of Rao, suggesting that he appeared miscast in the film.[42] The teaser also drew backlash for mentioning the release date as "This Independence Day – 14 August," since that date is celebrated as Pakistan's Independence Day. Netizens considered this a tone-deaf marketing choice, questioning its appropriateness for a patriotic film.[43] Additionally, filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma faced criticism after making an inappropriate social media post about Advani’s bikini appearance in the teaser. His remarks were widely condemned for being vulgar and insensitive, especially considering Advani's pregnancy. The post was later deleted following public outrage.[44]
Release
War 2 is scheduled to release worldwide on 14 August 2025 in standard and IMAX formats, a day before Indian Independence Day in Hindi along with dubbed versions in Tamil and Telugu.[45][6]
